#013: Silver Snakes

Alex from Silver Snakes learned about responsibility on tour when he was suddenly awarded sole custody of a beta fish. Now he never forgets anything at the last venue.

B Lo caught up with Alex at Denver’s Larimer Lounge, a mini tour stop on Silver Snakes’ way to meet Korn for the Nocturnal Underground Tour. While Alex is grateful for the chance to tour with Korn, he has mixed feelings about the possible return of nu metal.

Alex says Saboteur was written from a “completely negative space” which is surprising because the album seems relatively laid back. Then again, most genres are chill compared to death metal, the typical flavor of Metalix.

#012: Allegaeon

Burgess felt his music career was “done” after a stressful 2014 tour supporting the release of Elements of the Infinitebut a conversation with Adler revitalized his interest in metal. “That kicked my butt a little bit,” said Burgess.

Burgess and Adler have more than music in common. Both are alumni of Bishop Ireton High School, a Catholic school in Alexandria, VA whose other famous grads include Adler’s brother Willie (Lamb of God) and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, if only briefly.

Hear that discussion along with Burgess’ thoughts on rap vs. country music and how Allegaeon recruited new vocalist Riley McShane in this episode of the Metalix podcast.

#007: Ezra Haynes

Former Allegaeon vocalist Ezra Haynes surprises B Lo with a quick skype conversation after hearing a new Allegaeon track on Metalix.

Ezra is the consummate supporter of his projects, past or present and Allegaeon is no exception. However, this episode is spent discussing a much more urgent topic: the 2017 Gathering of the Juggalos in Colorado. Would Fort Collins be a good place for the legendary ICP-Fest?
