#004: Mike Fishkin

Should concert venues block cell phone video and pictures or do concert-goers have a right to stick a phone screen in your face at shows? B Lo weighs pros and cons with Fish of idobi Radio’s Gone Fishkin.

Fish recently tagged along on a few dates of Warped Tour, so he is quite familiar with millennial concert rituals like recording low-quality videos which will never get posted or watched by anyone. He opposes cell camera blocking technology, but for reasons you might not expect.

Fish also remarks on this year’s reformed, mature Warped Tour format. Will the presence of “mentor” bands help avoid all the controversy which surrounded the 2015 Warped Tour?

#003: Fist Fight

Fist Fight brings an aggressive attitude and an enthusiastic South American, Mexican and European fan base to Metalix.

Thanks to an endorsement from Ill Nino‘s Ahrue Luster, Fist Fight is gaining momentum both within the US metal scene but also south of the US where Ill Nino found their own success. Fist Fight even called upon their network of metal celebrities in the video for “Break Something” which features JD DeServio from Black Label Society.

Fist Fight are UFC fans, which fits their scrappy demeanor, but they are also personally connected to pro wrestling through vocalist and former WWE stage hand Dustin Hollmer. After one hilarious run-in with a wrestling star, Hollmer should consider renaming himself Dustin 3:16.

Catch Fist Fight Saturday, July 9th at the Gothic Theatre in Denver.

#002: Helleborus

Wyatt Houseman from Helleborus drives from the cool climes of Manitou Springs to join B Lo in the sweaty Metalix studio of humid death.

Houseman is a life long metal devotee who also promotes shows in the Colorado Springs area. Anyone unfamiliar with Colorado Springs will get a good introduction to Denver’s more godly, righteous neighbor in this interview. Apparently, Manitou Springs is known for more than just a really steep set of stairs on the mountainside (hint: Satan probably has awesome calf muscles).

Catch Helleborus Friday, July 15th at the Bluebird Theater in Denver.
